My story

I'm taking on the Aspire Channel Swim 2026, swimming the equivalent of half the English Channel (11 miles) over 12 weeks, to raise money for Aspire.

Every two hours, someone is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. Aspire provides the essential equipment, advice, housing and support that people with spinal cord injuries need to live independently.

I had a spinal cord injury in 2025 and was lucky enough to recover much of the strength and function I lost, although not all of it. While I was still in hospital, someone from Aspire came to see me and gave me advice, encouragement and helpful information that made the transition from rehab feel much less overwhelming.

Over the past year, I've slowly re-learned how to swim with my new level of function and am now able to be back in the water doing what I used to love. After lots of practice, I'm ready to take on what will be a huge challenge for me and I'm also excited to show myself what my body is still capable of.

Every donation, no matter the amount, will help Aspire continue supporting people like me at a time when they need it most. If you're able to sponsor me, I'd be very grateful.
