My story

Just over a year ago my sister was in a serious car accident and broke her neck, and is currently adjusting to life being paralysed. Both of us enjoy swimming, whether in the pool or in the sea and for that reason I'm taking on the Aspire Channel Swim 2026, swimming the distance of the English Channel – 44 miles, over 12 weeks to raise money for Aspire. However I am making the challenge harder for myself in recognition of the struggles spinal injury patients face every day. So I'm swimming 44 miles in 44 days - yes that's right 1 mile per day! Every two hours someone is paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury and Aspire provides the essential equipment, advice and housing that spinal cord injured people need to live their lives independently. This is a big challenge, but the more I raise, the more of a difference I'll make, so please sponsor me if you can.
